CARL G. ORNE AWARD |
Awarded to the chapter with the highest finish in the Warner Division.
Carl was a Professor of Accounting at California State University, Hayward from 1974 through 1987. He served as Associate Dean of the School of Business and Economics from 1976 to 1980. He was a visiting Professor at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks from 1981- to 1982. Before teaching, Carl spent 30 years as a practicing CPA, including 22 years as a partner with Coopers & Lybrand. Carl received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (cum laude} from Boston University. He held CPA certificates in Massachusetts, California, and other states. Carl was an expert in accounting for local government units. He served as one of the 21 members of the National Council on Governmental Accounting from 1980 to 1984.
He was president of the Oakland-East Bay Chapter (1962-63), National Vice President (1967-68), member of the Board of Governors (1972-75), and Vice President of the Stuart Cameron McLeod Society (1973-74).
In addition to his service in IMA, Carl was very active in Rotary Club. He joined Rotary in 1965. He was a past president of the Hayward South Club and served as District 517 Governor in 1986-87.
As a volunteer, Carl also served on the boards of the Oakland Symphony Orchestra Association, Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra Association, and Boston University Alumni Association.
