RAWN BRINKLEY AWARD

Awarded to the chapter with the highest overall performance for the previous five years.

Rawn Brinkley (1909-1973), was born in Chicago and grew up in Seattle. He graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He served 16 years with the National office, first as Assistant Secretary (1954-61) and then as Secretary and Executive Director (1961-1970).

Rawn's affiliation with IMA began in 1938 with the Providence Chapter.  He helped organize two chapters Elmira Area and East Tennessee -- serving as president of both chapters.

The Socio-Economic Program was started during his administration and has become one of the Institute's major community service activities. In recognition of the effectiveness of this effort, President Nixon named Rawn to the National Advisory Council on Minority Enterprise in 1969.

A calm, pragmatic executive, Rawn had a friendly and low-key approach that won him the respect and friendship of hundreds of businesspersons and associates at all levels. He was always accessible to members and staff employees, despite the pressing responsibilities of his office.  His total commitment to IMA and his love of the work was evident to those who worked with him.
